Recorded in the wake of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Bret Mosley’s new album, Live at Sam’s Caravan, delivers a message of striking relevance—even though each of its eight tracks was written more than three years ago. Capturing the raw energy and emotion of Bret’s live performance, the album was recorded on the intimate Sam’s Caravan Stage at Majors Creek Festival in New South Wales, Australia on November 9, 2024.
As a whole, Live at Sam’s Caravan is a stirring call to fully embrace the moment—especially when the stakes are high and the chips are down.

About
“My music career is the culmination of a fairly common path”, jokes Texas-born, NYC-native BRET MOSLEY, “before making that first record, I did the usual things: ranch hand, linebacker, fur trapper, ballet dancer, stockbroker, actor, computer programmer, Pilates instructor & art handler.”
An extraordinarily itinerant journey from small Texas desert town to New York’s indie music scene…

…informs Mosley’s sound, which PopMatters described as, “…no more country than R&B, no more folk than rock.”
Nomadic beginnings prepared Mosley for years of constant touring following the release of his debut album, Light & Blood—which NeuFutur Magazine commended as “a heart-felt masterpiece”. The veteran road warrior has more than 2000 headlining dates under his belt and has opened for notable international artists Cedric Burnside, Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, George Porter, Jr., The Blind Boys of Alabama, Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers), Kelly Joe Phelps, Jackie Greene, and Kaki King, among others.
Following up Light & Blood, Mosley recorded Charge (Chärj), a 2009 EP written in collaboration with Americana/jam rocker Jerry Joseph and drummer Steve Drizos. His self-released 2013 EP, X-ING was next. Mosley is currently self-producing multiple solo projects from sessions in New York, Mississippi, and Australia. He capped off 2022 with the surprise commemorative album release of Lighter & Bloodier: A Celebration of Light & Blood’s 15th Anniversary—comprising 16 tracks, ranging from early demos to previously unreleased studio material. Lighter & Bloodier‘s lead single “Gun War”, was co-written with 2022 Mississippi Songwriter of the Year Zechariah Lloyd, and features backing vocals by renowned South Carolina indie artist Danielle Howle. In July 2023, Mosley released his long-awaited album, Through the Fire. Seven years in the making, the 11-track album chronicles Mosley’s remarkable personal and musical evolution. Drawing inspiration from his harrowing first few years after immigrating from the US to Australia, Mosley’s lyrics resonate with authenticity, delving deep into themes of resilience, triumph, and the transformative power of love. The album weaves together Americana and Alt-Country influences, creating a unique and captivating sound that defies traditional boundaries. PRESS
“The blues is one of those genres that can easily become a paint-by-numbers kind of game, plugging in the required elements where they’re supposed to go. Bret Mosley takes the paintbrush and breaks it in two, creating something with the jagged edges that’s more authentically blues than most of what passes for the real thing these days…”
– COLUMBIA FREE TIMES
“As if he was sent to summon a message to the people…with a fiery, authentic performance that has since impacted my perceptions of what a live show should be…Bret’s performance reminded me that it’s the music and enthusiasm of the people playing that keep me coming back for more.”
– THE MUSIC INITIATIVE
“To describe your performance is not possible!! I would run out of superlatives before I got halfway. Your performance moved me in more ways than just listening to music…moved me physically and electrically, the energy raised my hair, gave me goose bumps.”
– SOUTH WEST BLUES CLUB, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
“Bret Mosley ripped up his slide guitar…delivered a cutting set with a bluesy, snarly, lowdown sound. His bare feet matched the raw power of his persona and voice, making you want to simultaneously dance and cry.”
